1. What is a barcode?

2. What is the information used for?

Each week the information we receive from you is collated. Reports are then produced which will look at which brands are selling best in a wide range of markets from shampoo to milk, and from chocolates to fem care. Manufacturers and retailers use this information to understand how popular or not the products they make and sell are. This helps them in improving their Marketing strategy and end consumers like you get better products and varied offers. Your input to this study is important to many people so thank you, we appreciate your co-operation.

3. What are the items that I should Scan?

Grocery is primarily day to day items – both food and non-food packaged in cans, bottles, sachets, polybags boxes etc. Few examples are Soaps, Shampoos, toothpaste, skin creams/lotions, sanitary napkins, Chocolates, Candies, soft drinks, juices, bottled water, chips, snacks, Tea, coffee, canned food, cereals , frozen meat, oats, soup, oil, milk, Laban, sauces, honey, house-cleaning products, Tissues, Laundry products such as detergents and fabric softener, baby food, baby powder & creams, disposable diapers etc. Please don’t include unbranded/loose fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood. Also other items such as Toys, Furniture, Electronic items, apparels, stationary items, alcohol, cigarettes etc.

4. What if I buy something without a barcode?

Many items of your shopping may not have barcodes, such as fresh fruit and vegetables. You can avoid scanning those items.

5. What if I am asked to click a photograph of the product after scanning the barcode?

There are some products for which we require additional information. Thus if you are asked to click a photograph, kindly ensure that you capture the brand of the product clearly in picture.

6. What should I do if I scan the wrong barcode?

Please try to scan your purchases as accurately as possible. If you do scan the wrong barcode, you can correct it by scanning the correct one immediately afterwards.

7. Can I recommend a friend?

Yes. If you know someone that would like to join PanelSmart, please ask them to enter their details on our website (panelsmart.ae)

We don’t guarantee that we will invite them to join PanelSmart because we have to make sure that the panel is kept representative of all types of different people in the country.

8. Should other members of my household scan their shopping?

Yes, other members can also scan using your username in case you are going out of town or are unable to scan. Kindly ensure that the same product is not scanned by any other member of your family.

9. How much time will I require to spend on this activity/task from my weekly routine?

We require you to scan all the grocery products bought in your household. The time taken on each shopping trip will depend on the number of products you need to scan. For example your daily shopping for products like Milk, Water, Bread etc. will take couple of minutes, while your monthly/weekly bulk shopping might take a little longer.

10. Why do I need to complete the personal details when I register?

Personal details such as Nationality, Family size etc. also help us to make sure that PanelSmart has a good cross section of all types of households across the country......small and large, those with younger or older etc.

11. What do I do if I move my house?

It is important that we keep our records up to date so please keep us informed.

12. What do I do if I change my email address/mobile number?

It is important that we keep our records up to date so please keep us informed.

13. What should I do if there is a change in my family/household members staying with me in UAE?

It is important that we keep the record of the individuals in your house up to date, so please contact us in case there is any change in the permanent family/household member staying with you in UAE.

14. What do I do if I go on vacation/holiday?

Please let us know if you are on vacation/long holiday for more than 10 days.

15. If I am out of UAE for a few months can any of my family member scan?

Yes, they can scan on your behalf if they live with you in the same house and are in the UAE.

16. What are the login details of panel smart app?

Your username is the last seven digits of your registered mobile number.
Password is not required and should be left blank

17. How do I login to my Yougotagift account?

Username is your complete mobile number in this format +9715xxxxxxxx
Password is the one you created yourself
If you forgot your password click on the “Forgot Password”. Wait for the SMS link and create a new password using the link.

18. If I change my mobile number does my PanelSmart username change accordingly?

No, your PanelSmart username will remain the same even if you change your mobile number.
Kindly notify us if/when you change your mobile number

19. Can I scan my grocery products purchased outside UAE?

No, we would like you to share only your UAE household grocery shopping

20. Other than myself, can my family members scan the grocery purchases for our household?

Yes, you or any of your family member can scan grocery products purchased for your UAE household using the same PanelSmart username.
